Off With Their Heads

A poem

Not a bloody coup
but a slow walk,
down the halls
of justice.

A determined
power grab by
intruders in
our House.

They stripped away
the painted layers
of protections
to elevate a king.

He wears
a mocking mask
that hides the Cuckoo
underneath.

We the people
turn away
while he shouts
off with their heads.

I wrote this in response to the prompt: Rights. I couldn’t resist going there, what with the recent news.
